The following dogs at the Humboldt County Animal Hospital are at high risk for euthanasia:

Sarcoptic Mange Puppy

#A058481

American Fox Hound:

Sarcoptic mange pup: This sweet, hyper 4 month old is listed as hound mix by the shelter, though we are thinking that this pup may have some border collie mixed in there somewhere. This sweetheart came into the shelter with sarcoptic mange (contagious) and is currently being treated. The shelter's contract vet prescribed a monthly dose of Revolution. We are looking for a rescue to take this pup so the pup gets more interaction.

Candace

Blue Nose Pit Bull Terrier:

Candice is a 2 yr. old, female Blue Nose Pit Bull Terrier. She is friendly with people and does well with other dogs. She loves to go for walks and play with most anything that is thrown but really prefers the company of people. Unfortunately she does not like being in her kennel so much and reacts poorly to most people that approach her. This is why she has failed her temperament test and was deemed unadoptable. Outside her kennel she is a very affectionate and playful girl that is all smiles and wags. Once again our shelter is overcrowded.

Frisbee

Labrador Retriever Mix:

Frisbee.is a 1 yr old, male, Lab mix. He came to the shelter on Dec 3rd. He is very people and dog friendly. He does well on lead and is a very active boy. He loves to play ball or with most anything that is thrown for him. He has been deemed unadoptable because of resource aggression; he growls and guards his food and toys. We have been working with him to try to overcome this behavior and he does correct off of it but will resort back to this unacceptable behavior. He also seems a bit wobbly on his back legs but it does not seem to slow him down. The shelter is now very full and he needs to get out through rescue or risk euthanasia.

Diego

Blue Nose Pit Bull Terrier Mix

Diego is a happy, fun-loving 10month old blue nose. This sweetheart was diagnosed with demodectic mange and is currently being treated by the shelter. Diego does great with other dogs and cats! Diego is currently up for adoption at the shelter BUT the shelter's contract vet said that they wanted to hold off on neutering him until he has has at least one month of treatment. Unfortunately, this means that Diego has to sit in a kennel for a month, no matter if someone wants to adopt him (because we can't release him unaltered.) We are looking for a temporary foster home for Diego. After a month of foster care, Diego can come back to the shelter, get neutered and be offered up for adoption.

Hello, we are rescue coordinators with the Humboldt County Animal Shelter. Humboldt County is located on the California Coast - one County down from the Oregon border. Because of our remoteness we try to get the dogs as close to rescue as we can, and the shelter does not charge rescues that pull dogs - no matter how much they have financially invested in a dog.

The Humboldt County Animal Shelter and our emergency rescue/foster homes are VERY FULL. These dogs are at high risk for euthanasia and need to find their way out through rescue. Thank you for hearing our plea. Please share it with anybody that may be able to help.

Thank you!

Stacie and Jim
